Roofing is priced by the "square" (100 square feet), but the number of squares is only the starting point. Material, roof pitch, the number of layers to tear off, and the condition of the decking underneath all move the final price.

How to compare roofing quotes

Insist on written quotes that specify the material, underlayment, flashing, tear-off scope, decking replacement rate, and workmanship warranty. A cheap quote that omits flashing or decking allowances is not really cheaper.
